Marvell Technology Inc&period; &lpar;NASDAQ&colon; MRVL&rpar; traded down about 3&period;6&percnt; shortly after Monday’s opening bell&comma; and Advanced Micro Devices Inc&period; &lpar;NASDAQ&colon; &lpar;NASDAQ&colon; LRCX&rpar; and Applied Materials Inc&period; &lpar;NASDAQ&colon; AMAT&rpar; traded down 6&period;2&percnt; and 3&period;8&percnt;&comma; respectively&comma; Monday morning&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The new BIS export controls are intended to &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;restrict the &lbrack;China&rsqb;’s ability to obtain advanced computing chips&comma; develop and maintain supercomputers&comma; and manufacture advanced semiconductors&period;” The rules also &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;make clear that foreign government actions that prevent BIS from making compliance determinations will impact a company’s access to U&period;S&period; technology through addition to the Entity List&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In order to be allowed to export chips or chipmaking equipment to China&comma; U&period;S&period; companies will have to get an export license&comma; not easy to accomplish in the best of circumstances&period; The United States has even convinced non-U&period;S&period;-based companies like ASML Holding N&period;V&period; &lpar;NASDAQ&colon; ASML&rpar;
